If you live in the Wichita or South Central Kansas area, we would be happy to provide a free initial phone consultation. It is very important that you feel comfortable with whoever you may work with.  The free consultation gives you the opportunity to get an idea of what to expect and who would be the right helper for you without any obligation or cost.   You can also find out what out of pocket expense you might have for therapy based on your insurance coverage.  You may find that therapy is more affordable than you thought.  Even if you don't think therapy is what you need, we'd be happy to talk to you briefly about resources that may be in the community that might helpful to you in solving a problem.

How long is free phone consultation?

Usually they last up to 15 minutes, but we're not "clock watchers" and may talk longer if we have the time available that day.

What times are free consultations scheduled?

Usually clients just call the office and leave a message with the secretary (or our voice mail) and a therapist will call you back as soon as we are able.  However, if you need to schedule a particular time, we are often available to do a free consultation at noon.   

What should I expect from a free consultation?

A consultation is not counseling and should not be expected to fully solve a problem.  What you can expect is to share some information about what you are worried about, to find out whether this is in issue that is right for therapy or something  you may not really need to keep worrying about, and to find out whether the services we offer would be a good fit for your needs.   Don't hesitate to ask us anything about our training, our philosophy, or our personal beliefs that might affect who would be the right therapist for you or your child.  This is a private practice-- we want you to be comfortable and have choices about what kind of help you get.
